Welcome to the VERNON FLYING CLUB at the BEST G.A. airport in the BC interior.
We can’t decide if we’re a flying club with lots of social activities, or a social club with lots of flying.
We don’t restrict membership to pilots. If you’re licensed or not, all you need to join is an interest in aviation. We’ve been here since 1946. People join, and they leave for their own reasons, but the membership is usually between 80 and 100. Many own aircraft, some don’t. The club does not own one. But almost everyone manages to join the flying as empty seats fill quickly.
The VFC supports safety seminars for pilots, local and provincial search and rescue, the Vernon Winter Carnival, airport security, and various activities as they arise. The Club is an active chapter of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association, and every summer we sponsor a “COPA For Kids Day” when kids under 17 years old are introduced to aviation and enjoy their first flight in a small plane.
We host fly-in breakfasts, BBQ’s, and other social events. Visitors are welcome. There is always someone at the clubhouse for the 10 a.m. coffee. Please come on in and introduce yourself!
